Hello, I’m Carrie Foreman, I love clothes and shopping and have spent most of my career in fashion. After I graduated I got a place as a grad recruit for The Arcadia Group. I worked my way from the stores up to head office at the centre of the fashion industry where I was the Retail Brand Manager for Topshop and then Dorothy Perkins. I stopped work to have my two children who are now six and eight but kept my eye in, often being asked by friends to shop for outfits for them for parties, interviews, dates and weddings. Launching my personal shopping and styling service, Carrie.wardrobe, felt like a natural development from there. The catalyst was chatting in the kitchen at a New Year’s Eve Party, the host was wearing a dress I had found her online, she introduced me to her friend who became my first customer. That was in 2014 and since then I have worked consistently from personal recommendations and repeat business. The business was born out of a desire to help women address and conquer insecurities about their bodies. Returning to work after having children, for example, is hard enough without internally combusting over what to wear. I don’t believe in colour charts or body shape analysis and completely agree with the style writer Jess Cartner-Morely that ‘fashion is not about what you are allowed to wear; it’s about putting you in control of how the world sees you’. Shopping should be fun and liberating and should also not cost the earth. The high street has changed and is now faster and more affordable than ever. Making it accessible and exciting again for customers pushed for time is at the heart of what I do.
